When you first arrive at the mk2 Paradiso Hotel, you might be perplexed. The recently opened movie hotel, which is tucked adjacent to the neighborhood’s local theater, is a little challenging to discover, as is the elevator that goes to the rooftop bar. But as the doors open and you ascend the stairs, you enter a green, breezy sanctuary. You may choose between a bigger table on the teak terrace below or a swing chair to enjoy the sunshine while looking out at the sweep of Paris’ famed zinc rooftops. However, if you’re looking for a hearty dinner or a diverse drink menu, look elsewhere.
Le Bar à Bulles at La Machine du Moulin Rouge

One of my favorite Paris rooftops is the hidden treasure Le Bar à Bulles (Bubble Bar in English) which is perched atop the iconic performance venue the Machine du Moulin Rouge, rising from the seedy alleyways of Montmartre. The patrons at Le Bar are particularly youthful and trendy. One wonders whether they come with the varied décor because they are so trendy. Sit at one of the vibrant tables and enjoy the view of the area’s well-known, enormous red windmill while enjoying the quirky lighting from a lamp that seems like it came from a French grandmother’s home. Drinks are delicious and fairly priced; their organic “gin to’s” and natural wines by the glass. The music is only “Shazamable”: it’s brand-new, boisterous, and upbeat. The bar also holds a number of popular monthly events (on the weekend I visited, a magazine launch, bartending classes, and an art discussion took place).
Villa M Rooftop

La Villa M, the newest rooftop in Paris (it initially welcomed guests in May 2022), is a contemporary addition to the city’s lesser-known 15th arrondissement, which is close to the trendy Saint Germain des Près neighborhood. The beautiful green patio, another Philippe Starck creation, appears to hover in mid air. The bar offers both traditional favorites and innovative drinks, such the 8e Ciel, which combines tequila with Darjeeling infusion, gooseberry jam, handmade rhubarb juice, and ginger beer.
ROOF de Madame Rêve

Before the elevator doors open, you can hear the glimmer of discussion. A bespectacled DJ is playing music that is more reminiscent of an evening in Ibiza than it is of a bar in the heart of Paris. Rich Parisians relax at ROOF, playing pool, smoking at the bar, and lounging in lounge chairs positioned to face the brilliant sunset. This rooftop is not like others. This summer, don’t miss ROOF at the recently renovated Madame Rêve Hotel, which offers views of St. Eustache cathedral, Notre Dame (which is presently undergoing restoration), and the Eiffel Tower in the distance. As the establishment’s website recommends, arrive early in “chic elegant attire” to secure a table with the best views. At the enormous marble bar, order a Paloma Picasso (ROOF’s modern spin on an old favorite) and fresh sushi rolls (yep, there is an on-site sushi chef).
Rooftop Le Molitor

Would you want to have a beverage at a real aristocratic institution in Paris? In 1929, The Molitor initially opened its doors to the most fashionable Parisians, who could swim, drink, and socialize by the exquisite aquamarine pool. The Molitor is now a magnificently restored remnant of Paris’ Années folles, with a rooftop cleverly constructed to resemble the opulent cabanas below. Visitors can mingle at Rooftop Le Molitor for delicious meals or cocktails (try the Balle de Match, a vodka-based cocktail inspired by the nearby Roland Garros tennis stadium). This location offers views of the renowned blue pool and the Eiffel Tower in the distance.
Kitchen Garden Rooftop at Brach

Brach’s rooftop bar offers a retreat from daily life although many bars can offer a break from the hustle. The rooftop doubles as the “potager” (herb garden) for the hotel restaurant during the day, and after dusk, it has been transformed into a chic, tranquil bar. Every little thing matters at Brach (as one might anticipate considering it was created by Philippe Starck). Lavender scents from the garden blow across the throng on windy nights. While pricey, cocktails are upgraded versions of traditional drinks. For example, the mojito employs premium aged rum instead of regular prosecco in the Aperol spritz.
Le Perchoir Marais

One is expected to see and be seen at Le Perchoir. Le Perchoir is a maze of string lights, camera flashes, and golden sunsets, perched on the roof of the renowned BHV department store on the Right Bank. The bartenders never stop flashing their silver cocktail shakers while a vivacious DJ spins sped-up golden oldies and calm techno tunes. For a sensual variation on a Pia Colada, get a Coco Chachal. If you’re feeling daring (or simply thirstier), order a bottle of natural white wine, which is uncommon at rooftop discos.
Séquoia at the Kimpton St. Honoré

Séquoia, which is sandwiched between the magnificent Paris Opéra and the majestic Place Vendôme, is undoubtedly beautiful. Although the bar is modest, it provides some of the greatest views of Paris; you can see almost all of the city’s significant landmarks. From jazz covers to more modern rhythms, music blares from the speakers. The vistas, warmth, and great drinks make the bar worth visiting even if there are more visitors than residents there (many are hotel guests). The finger food is pricey and scarce, but it is also well-prepared and appetizing. The My Taï, a blend of bourbon, Chartreuse, Cointreau, orgeat syrup, and lime juice, is Séquoia’s signature drink and may best encapsulate what visitors can expect from the restaurant: a fusion of French and foreign flavors that don’t quite seem to go together but nonetheless surprise with unexpected deliciousness.
Bar Rochechouart

One of Paris’ best-kept secrets is this glass-walled rooftop bar in the heart of Pigalle, perched atop the boutique Hôtel Rochechouart. The Sacre Coeur Basilica, which is located just north of Bar Rochechouart, is illuminated in a mesmerizing spotlight from the bar’s panoramic perspective of Paris. The drinks are all reasonably priced and inventive reinterpretations of traditional Italian concoctions (the Week-end à Rome, for instance, is an Aperol Spritz remade with prosecco, tonka bean essence, and blood orange juice). Sharing platters of olives, focaccia, and mortadella, as well as generous bowls of spaghetti and grilled octopus, are available for eating.
